Diet Sunglasses?!
The Diet industry is a multi-Billion dollar industry, so does this surprise you?
Got the dieting blues?
You’ve all heard that joke about a chubby guy or gal being on a “see food” diet. Well, a Japanese company named Yumetai seems to have given some serious thought to the matter, creating dieter’s sunglasses with deep blue lenses that make the food you’re eating look, well, disgusting.
Now you know why food isn’t blue
There’s more to it than that – according to Yumetai, there’s a scientific explanation behind these sunglasses and the lenses are blue for a very good reason: the color blue acts to calm the brain’s appetite center.
At the same time, the lenses block rays of red light which tend to stimulate the appetite. Make sense? Hey, if you’re a desperate dieter you’ll believe just about anything but if you think about it, there aren’t many obese Japanese walking around outside the sumo dojo.

If you want to put the diet sunglasses to the test, you can order them online from the Yumetai website for just 1,890 yen (about $19) plus shipping. The aviator-style sunglasses weigh just 25 grams (about an ounce) and are made in Japan.
Considering the many millions of dollars Americans lay out on diet remedies every year, it may be time for a new approach. Plus, the fact that many fattening food already look disgusting doesn’t seem to stop those intent on pigging out in style. What have you got to lose? Well just maybe, your appetite!

Ground beef recalled over E. coli death
New York company linked to illnesses from eating tainted meat

ASHVILLE, N.Y. – A New York meat company has recalled almost 546,000 pounds of ground beef because, according to health officials, contaminated meat has caused illness and one death.
A New Hampshire resident died and two others were hospitalized after consuming ground beef that may have been tainted by bacteria that can cause diarrhea, dehydration and kidney failure.
The death was connected to the recall of ground beef products by Fairbank Farms, of Ashville, New York. The U.S. Agriculture Department
said it became aware the meat might be tainted by E. coli O157:H7 bacteria during an investigation of a cluster of food-borne illnesses in New England.
New Hampshire officials announced the death on Saturday but did not release information about the victim. Two other New Hampshire residents have been hospitalized, they said.
USDA said it worked with health officials and “determined that there is an association between the fresh ground beef products subject to recall and illnesses in Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts.”
A string of food-borne safety scares led the U.S. House of Representatives to pass legislation this summer to require more inspections and oversight of food manufacturers and would give the government new authority to order recalls.
Fairbank Farms announced the recall on Saturday. The beef was produced in mid-September and probably was labeled for sale before the end of the month, said USDA. It went to retailers in eight states including Trader Joes, Price Chopper, Lancaster and Wild Harvest, Shaw’s, a unit of Supervalu, BJ’s,F ord Brothers and Giant, a unit of Ahold. The ground beef packaged under the Fairbank Farms name was distributed to stores in Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and was likely repackaged for sale.
The federal agency says the ground beef was sold at numerous retail stores. Each package carried the number “EST. 492″ on the label.

Today is like a hump day and I in no shape or form wanted to workout today…but this accountability thing gets me going.
For some odd reason the gym was like a club today…Only a few people were really getting their blackfitness on today.

I have been tracking my workouts here on the blog but I also found this cool site called dailyburn.com. The interesting thing is the videos and community that is built around this site. You can choose and track your workout plan, nutrition and weight. It also has many social networking features alla facebook and myspace.
I also got a chance to send out some copies of P90X to a couple of friends, overall they are in pretty good shape or at least they have good beach muscles. I will say this…they look real young when they attended the college reunion (and that’s a good thing). I hope they follow up with the P90X so they can share with you their anguish and pain.

Today, I’m damn near unable to walk as expected. Squatting 315 and leg pressing 810 out of the box is not a good idea…or is it. I wanted to get the pain over with and convince myself that I can get it done. Calf raises are never a good idea for me because of an old achilles tear.
Tuesday leads into arms my favorite….and abs my arch enemy

The premise behind this workout is the weight you use should be light enough to do 4 reps, but heavy enough so you can’t do more than 6 reps. Each set should be done to positive failure. FORM IS KING!

Leg Workout: It Hurts So Bad

I have a love/hate relationship with my legs. The funny thing is you can not deny them. You can hide them with sweats or even jeans but you can not deny them.
You might be getting compliments on your shoulders & back so you ignore them.
Maybe you are getting compliments on your chest so you ignore them.
You notice women grab or lean on your arms when they laugh or greet you at work, so you ignore them.
Your waist line is slimming so you are feeling Hulkish..so you continue to ignore them.
You play a lil ball or jog a few mile and think …”yup thats my leg workout”…so you continue to ignore them.
I’ve been doing this for the past month…BIG MISTAKE! Your legs are the biggest muscle group and need your attention. Today I am sore and it hurts so bad right now…guess I deserve it. You can ignore them but you can not deny them.
You cannot properly stimulate your legs by going into the gym for 25 min and BS’ing., do a few sets on half-ass rep leg presses, some leg extensions and some reverse extensions. It’s a proven fact, just look at the people who perform these workouts. Do they have wheels of steel? NO!
You can only perform a leg workout with intensity and feel the results days later. Working out your legs will require a special time with you and your soul, it will also require mental focus like no other.
Yesterday, I faced the facts and looked in the mirror and did my leg workout. Never will I forget this body part…I’m proud of myself.
