My Fitness Journey
Marriage, work, family, school and stress can cause havoc on the body. I reached peak physical condition twice in my life senior year of college (strength wise) and when I moved to the south for a new job (long story). Either way the journey is finding a fitness balance and using food as medicine. Being the strongest is not the most important but having a beach body and functional fitness is the goal. There are ups and downs but there will always be a consistent goal of getting my blackfitness on.

FAT JOE: VIDEO Drop A Body Weight Loss
Fat Joe, the rapper who’s nickname was representative of his 6-foot-2, 350 lb frame, has recently shed 88 pounds, and apparently without the aid of any weight loss supplement or fad diet.
According to the NYDailyNews, the South Bronx native decided to get serious about weight loss after losing seven friends, all in their 30′s, to heart attacks last year.

I really dont care!
Eating clean, organic and good is one thing but eating too much is another. Here is my gift and my curse. It could be healthy and good for you but I really dont care 1000 calories is 1000 calories. Eat smart and becareful out there.
Gift: Great spread for snacks and better alternative than peanut butter.
Curse: Can you really do one scoop? (yes if you need to)

When do YOU know you had a great Workout?
Not when you go to the gym and the girl at the front desk gives you that “you just got here” on your way out look.
Sad day yesterday and I’ll be the first to admit it. It’s time to change things up.
Honestly I’ve been backing off the weights since I play in a Lacrosse league. (that is not me) Talk about a HITT training session for 50 minutes. I never used the word SUB! (short for substitution) so many times.

My fear is if I do legs then I’ll be gimping throughout the game. I have this weird delayed soreness where I dont feel the workout till 2 days later (not sure why)
Either way I think the plan will be AM workouts and pm cardio…uh next week. More importantly I need to write a workout plan for the week that is realistic allowing time to recover and take care of the fam. Going to the gym and coming home at 11pm is not working here.

A little extra goes a long way....
Today would of been a mess if I pack my meals. I was rushing out the door between meetings and phone calls I was able to slow down and enjoy my steel cut oats oats. Slow cooked 2 days ago. This batch should last 3 days.
I toast them (1 cup) with 1/2 tbsp real butter for 2-3 minutes then add 3 cups of water with a cinnamon stick boil then simmer. The next day I pull 1/2 a cup of oats, add almond milk with strawberries. GTG (good to go!)

Prepping meals is the key to the game…I would of been pissed if I stopped by some crap o lla fast food joint or starved till lunch. These are some carrot and raisin muffins that I made last nite with protein powder and the pulp from juicing. The fiber in both these meals held me over till about 130 LUCHTIME!!! I post the recipe for this a lil later.

Why not just Blog?!
Sometime I get into wanting to write a deep and colorful blog…get the images correct and ensure that my grammar is spot on. This takes time away from simple sharing…its like wanting to give a gift and thinking twice cause theres no gift card or gift wrap.
I forgot this is about sharing me, unadulterated. I make mistakes and this is not a editorial from the NY Times where everything has to be perfect. Anywho…(i feel comfortable doing that now, notice “i” isnt capitalized) I feel a greater sense of freedom. I will continue to post celeb news and facts about the black community but news about the everyday guy is way more interesting. Here is my lunch…Since I was on the run I ended up spending 2 dollars on this. $1 for the tahini sesame kale and $1 on the boneless sardines (hotsauce free). Pretty cool resourcefullness without making a mistake. Although this was high in fat (14g of fat) it was all from the seafood and with 20g of protein I was set. I brought a small bag of almonds to snack on till I get home.

The summer is here and I nearly averted disaster over the weekend …it could of been worst but now its time to clean it up. As much as I hate work, the structure allows me to eat right and on time. I also want to do something for myself and going to the gym is easier cause its all about me.

Tyra Banks is Loving Post Modelling Years

While still a supermodel, Tyra Banks watched her diet closely since she is supposed to stay slim. But since quitting the modeling world in 2005, she no longer pays attention to what she eats. She admitted that her weight has fluctuated between 148 and 162 pounds since then. She loves food and not afraid to show it!
Tyra, who is the host of America’s Next Top Model and currently a guest-host on morning TV show The View, happily munched on pasta, paella and a selection of desserts. She even talked with her mouth full and allowed spaghetti to hang out of her lips! She finds the dishes delectable and delicious.
Earlier in the show co-host Sherri Shepherd asked Tyra why she and other models always look so mad while modeling in the catwalk. She jokingly added that maybe the reason is that they are hungry.
Tyra, who has often raised awareness of eating disorders in the media, replied.
“I think a lot of models are hungry.”
And she is right! Some models starve themselves in order to stay slim, which is not good.
